Missing Cat Poster Design

Project Overview

A neighbor’s cat, Tulip, went missing, and they needed help spreading the word in the community. I volunteered to design a poster that would be effective in catching people’s attention and providing them with the necessary information to help find her.

Design Objectives

  • Maximize Visibility: The poster needed to be eye-catching and readable from a distance to be effective on telephone poles and community bulletin boards.
  • Convey Urgency and Emotion: The design had to communicate the urgent nature of the situation and foster a sense of empathy in the community.
  • Provide Clear, Actionable Information: It was crucial that anyone who saw the poster knew exactly what the cat looked like and who to contact.

The Outcome

The posters were distributed throughout the neighborhood, and within a few days, a community member who had seen one of the posters spotted Tulip and contacted the owner. Tulip was safely returned home, a happy ending that underscored the power of clear design and community spirit.

Key Design Elements

  • Prominent and Heartwarming Photo

A large, high-quality photo of Tulip is the centerpiece of the poster, chosen to create an emotional connection with passersby.

The photo was carefully selected to be both clear for identification and endearing to encourage community help.

  • Bold, Unmistakable Headline

The words 'MISSING CAT' are displayed in a large, bold, and easily readable font to immediately grab attention from a distance.

This ensures that the poster's purpose is understood in a single glance.

  • Clear and Concise Information

Essential details such as the cat's name, description, last seen location, and contact information are presented in a clean, organized layout.

The hierarchy of information is designed to guide the reader's eye to the most critical information first.

  • Tear-off Contact Tabs

The bottom of the poster includes tear-off tabs with the contact phone number, making it easy for people to take the information with them.

This practical feature increases the likelihood that someone who has seen Tulip will be able to make the call.
